I think you wasted your time.

Isn't the Bible stories about those who followed "God", ignored God, and then followed God again.
.
I have no problem accepting the possibility that what was written was divinely inspired. That I can deal with. What I find strange is what is actually written. I seriously don't think the stories portray exactly what they were meant to. God really is a scary fellow in the majority of that book….and I don't imagine any higher power to be like that.
If it turns out that God is really as angry as he's made out to be in the book, I really don't want to spend eternity with him. I spent my childhood around someone with major anger management problems and it was no fun. Why on Earth would I want to spend forever in that same situation?
Here is mine for today:“While you are proclaiming peace with your lips, be careful to have it even more fully in your heart.”
St. Francis of Assisi
Peace Be With You,
Debra
I like banji wa yume, a zen proverb that means "everything is a dream". I also like atmadeepo bhava. These were Buddha's last words, and they mean "be a light unto yourself. My favorite Buddha quote, however, would probably be this one:
“I consider the positions of kings and rulers as that of dust motes. I observe treasures of gold and gems as so many bricks and pebbles. I look upon the finest silken robes as tattered rags. I see myriad worlds of the universe as small seeds of fruit, and the greatest lake in India as a drop of oil on my foot. I perceive the teachings of the world to be the illusion of magicians. I discern the highest conception of emancipation as a golden brocade in a dream, and view the holy path of the illuminated ones as flowers appearing in one's eyes. I see meditation as a pillar of a mountain, Nirvana as a nightmare of daytime. I look upon the judgment of right and wrong as the serpentine dance of a dragon, and the rise and fall of beliefs as but traces left by the four seasons”
Here are some of my favorites:
Serving others is a way of thanking God.
Preach the Gospel at all times, and when necessary, use words.
People with a heart for God have a heart for people.
Gratitude is a God-honoring attitude.
There’s one thing the Christian gives and still must keep - His Word.
To keep spiritually fit, feed on God’s Word and exercise your faith.
Live today as if you will stand before God tomorrow.
To rejoice in righteousness and grieve over wickedness if proof of a genuine Christian.
